Donation to Rick Palardy Scholarship

$25.00

This will be awarded in memory of Mr. Palardy who attended Georgetown Schools and graduated from Haverhill Trade School. Rick served Georgetown as a call firefighter at the Erie 4 station, as a soccer coach for the GAA, as a snow plow driver for the town, and as a member of other town committees. As an active Friend of the Library, Rick helped establish the (new) Teen Community Room at the Georgetown Peabody Library. After retiring from his job as a sheet metal fabricator, Rick opened his own Wooden Toy and Gift shop in town, and was part of the Shop Local initiative.

Scholarships will be given: one to a male and one to a female graduate of Georgetown High School. The guidance office will select students based on their willingness to learn and use such manual skills as will benefit their community. It is intended to provide finances for purchasing tools, tool boxes, safe footwear and work related clothing, training, manuals and other resources that will facilitate successful work habits.

Now in our fourth year, the Rick Palardy Scholarship fund is awarding FIVE $500 scholarships: two to Georgetown High School seniors, two to Whittier Tech seniors from Georgetown, and a new one to a Georgetown graduate of Essex Aggie Tech.  Thank you to all the donors who have helped this initiative grow year by year!
